Another Academy Awards ceremony has come and gone, and despite almost celebrating its 80th birthday, not much about the event has changed since it was born. Certainly, there are more categories to offer the semblance of inclusiveness, but categories like Best Short/Feature Length Documentary, Best Short/Feature Length Animation and Best Foreign-Language Film are intended only to set apart from what makes an Oscar deserving "Best Film".

While Hollywood and the Academy continue to define cinema from a speck of a "centre", Useful + Agreeable celebrates world cinema and the pooling of international talent and perspectives as a non-foreign phenomenon. Consequently, the first annual U+A Film Awards honours the very best and progressive films from all parts of the Earth which reflect an international spirit and will.

U+A is pleased to announce a three-way tie for the Best Film Award, and a Lifetime Achievement Award to one of the most globally-focussed cinematographers practicing today. >>
